Payment terms; a £99.00 deposit must be paid at the time of booking or alternatively an official Purchase Order can be used (until we receive either of these, you have no booking) The balance of £100.00 must be paid before you attend the first day of the assessment.
Registration for L1 and L2 assessments over the 17-18 May in S/wales takes place at Bryn Bettws Training School between 08-45 and 09-00 on the first day of the assessment.
For courses held on Cannock Chase in the Midlands please contact Paul Massey 01889 583210 for direction. The timings will remain the same.
Students may use their own bikes, an inspection of conformity and safety will be performed by them before they ride (H&S). Alternatively we can provide bikes at a minimal cost of £15.00 for the course duration.
Tea and Coffee will be available during the day, please bring along a packed lunch on both days and any soft or energy drinks that you prefer.
You must let us know in advance of any medical problems, allergies etc that you have. For the Bike Maintenance module we provide Latex protective Gloves. If you have an allergy to Latex then please bring along some protective gloves that suit you.
We operate a NO SMOKING policy.
Dirty Clothes and Dirty riding shoes may be left in our storage facility and the ladies and gents toilets serve as changing rooms.
Health and Safety and protective elements must be observed at all times as they are by Afan Valley employees during the role play carried out through the course.
Roughly the timings are Day 1 08.45 registration, 09.00-10.30 Course Modules, 10.30-10.45 Break, 10.45-12.30 Course Modules, 12.30-13.15 Break 13.15-14.00 Bike prep for riding skills, 14.00-15.45 Personal riding skills module, 15.45-16.00 Break 16.00-16.20 de-brief, 16.20-18.00 Route planning for day 2.
Day 2, 08-45 for registration please. 09.00-09.15 bike prep, 09.15-15.30 group riding module, 15.00-15.30 de-brief over a cup of Tea followed by individual assessments and the issue of log-books.
You will need clothing to include wet weather gear, suitable shoes, an approved helmet, a day glow or florescent cycling over vest, riding glasses, suitable riding gloves, a basic emergency repair kit for the cycle and yourself which must include two high calorie bars and a full drinks bottle. Please carry identity at all times with a record of your blood group if you have it.
Please prepare a resume of your previous experience (APL) whether you are applying for Level 1 or Level 2 and post it to Afan Valley. 76 Ynys-Y-Gored. Port Talbot. SA13 2EB. This must reach us no later than 14 days in advance of the assessment date.
APL (accredited previous learning) will seriously influence your grading. Polish up your riding skills, navigation skills and leadership skills which are all outlined in the Training Manual. A valid First Aid cert is required for Level 1 and 2. We must have a copy of it prior to the assessment or we will not issue you with a log-book.
If you apply for L2 you must be able to substantiate your claim for Level 2 status, if you do not send us your APL and any relevent qualifications at least 14 days in advance of the assessment you will be deemed to be Level 1 and duly assessed at that level. Protests on the day will not help

If you fail to inform us that you will not be attending the course you have booked on within 10 working days of the assessment date your deposit of £99.00 will be forfeit.
