Diana & I had a fantastic two days being guided by Nigel Thomas at Afan. The first day we did the Penhydd Trail and the Wall. Well designed, fluent man-made tracks which we had not experienced before. The second day was even more memorable as we asked Nigel for an adventure: he took us up the climb of the Skyline trail and then we went off the beaten track on bridleways, byways, old roman roads. Incredible countryside, beautiful long distance views, wonderfully varied riding, lung busting climbs, great descents.
I would really recommend hiring a guide for half a day or a day to anyone new to the valley and the area at large. It meant none of our precious time was wasted getting lost, and was very confidence inspiring.

I attended the Instructor led course in Afan Forest on Saturday 8th December, the Instructor was Nigel with help from Neal. This course was run for myself and 2 other friends.
We would just like to say that we all had a brilliant time, hair-raising on occasions and certainly an adrenalin rush. The Instructors were very knowledgeable and made sure we got the most out of the day. I would recommend this training to anyone, whether new to maintain biking, or just need to gain confidence or just need to see what the Afan Forest can offer. We will all certainly be back.
