FIRST AID COURSES

WILDERNESS/OUTDOOR-FIRST AID COURSES

Certification/Awarding Body:  ITC, ( HSE registered ) valid for 3 years. All trainers, trained and accredited with the Awarding Body. ITC are also a QCA recognised Educational Awarding Body. Outdoor first aid Units 1 and 2 are “Section 96 Qualifications” on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and are found listed at www.dfes.gov.uk/section96

Unit 1 Outdoor First Aid Emergency Action (8 hours) : For those needing some training for an outdoor context, outdoor workers, teachers, youth leaders, walking/rambling clubs etc meets reqts of some awarding bodies, exceeds recommendations  for current “Appointed Person”. Contrasts urban /remote & adult/child situations. Covers first aid guidelines, vital signs, accident procedure, treating collapse, CPR, choking, bleed/shock, prioritisation exercise and review. NQF Unit number is OFA1 (J/500/4375)

Unit 2: Outdoor First Aid Emergency Incident Management (8 hours): For those needing to meet/exceed reqts of National Governing Bodies such as Mountain Training UK, BCU, RYA, BOF, BASI etc and who will be in locations further than 30 mins from immediate assistance. Public Services Courses, Outdoor workers, Teachers, Youth leaders, Scout leaders, Cadet force leaders, outdoor instructors, those on gap year expeditions, outdoor workers, etc. Covers injuries, (limb/torso) illness, environmental problems (heat/cold/water) outdoor practical scenarios. NQF Unit number OFA2 (L/500/4376)

Unit 3: Outdoor Further Emergency First Aid (8 hours): For those requiring further training including specific medical emergencies, triage, aimed at professional group leaders and travellers

Unit 4: Outdoor Emergency Expedition First Aid:  Additional first aid training for specific environments, (jungle/desert/altitude), a proactive approach to managing incidents and casualties far from help.

First Aid at Work for Outdoor Workers: We also run a 24 hour first aid at work course covering the elements listed in Units 1 and 2  above, with additional information on cleaning of incident site, reporting, first aid at work kits, and after care of first aiders, with independent assessment, to fulfil the full HSE criteria.

10% discount on fees for IOL members, anyone involved with Duke of Edinburgh Award including panel members, members of Scout Association, BMC members, JMT members. Unit 1 - £65,  Units 1 & 2 -  £120, Units 1&2& 3- £155, FAW £165.  For those wishing to add units to those already completed,  fee is £65 per unit, and additions must be undertaken within certain time frames, please enquire.  Please note separate fee structures for some venue/course organisers.
