Our Instructors are all qualified through the MIAS Mountain Bike Leader Training scheme. so you can have faith in our ability to deliver Training and tuition on Mountain Bike Riding Skills Development.
MIAS Course Dates.MIAS courses are particularly beneficial for those who wish to gain employment or work as independent operators within the travel industry. They are also very popular with teachers, youth leaders, scout leaders etc. who have benefited from a recognised qualification, from the N.V.Q. Awarding Body
Course Joining notes. Roughly the timings are Day 1 09.00 registration, 09.15-10.30 Course Modules, 10.30-10.45 Break, 10.45-12.30 Course Modules, 12.30-13.15 Break 13.15-14.00 Bike prep for riding skills, 14.00-15.45 Personal riding skills module, 15.45-16.00 Break 16.00-16.20 de-brief.
M O D Accredited. Every member of the services is entitled to £175.00 per year, to put towards the cost of personal development courses. All MIAS Mountain Bike related courses qualify for this funding support for MOD staff members. These training courses are civilian-recognised qualifications.
Bike Maint Course. Maintaining and repairing your mountain bike isn’t rocket science. There are some components such as expensive shocks that have to go away to specialists for overhaul. But you can save about 70% on Bike Shop costs by removing them and sending them away yourself.
Womens Courses. are run at our workshops in Glyncorrwg for ladies
Riding Skills Courses. The aim of these Personal Riding Skills Courses is to develop existing riding skills and to introduce new ones. Under our Guide/Instructors supervision You will be tackling the best the trails in Afan have to offer, rocky mountainous XC singletrack terrain.

Mountain Bike Hire and Riding Skills Development in South Wales  Tel 01639 893661

 

An afternoons event with a Buffet Lunch would typically run for about 5 hours.

 

So this is the format for the day. We meet at Unit 3 Glyncorrwg Community Workshops at about 11.45. All riders will then receive a Health and Safety brief before being issued with Helmets & Hard-tail Bikes. Initially all Bikes will be set up specifically for each rider.

 

We ride along the Glyncorrwg Cycle path learning riding SKILLS and details about gear selection on our way to a local Hostelry (sorry no alcohol allowed) where a Buffet Lunch will be awaiting.

 

After lunch a Minibus will collect the riders and take them up the Mountain to 1800 ft where they will be re-united with their Bikes and start their descent back to Glyncorrwg again under the supervision of our MIAS qualified Instructor Guides, riding over DIRTY TRAILS.

 

Professional tuition is given throughout your activity. experiences are ideal for any special occasion or just a day of something different.

 

A minimum of ten riders per event to a maximum of thirty. At a cost of £73.00 pp

Buffet on the Corporate Mountain Bike Experience

Corporate Mountain Bike-Activity Days at Afan in South Wales.

 

These Corporate Team Bonding Mountain Bike Activity days are designed as social events rather than breathless MTB experiences, they give your employees & guests the opportunity to take part in an activity that is far removed from the normal concept of a Corporate Experience Day and is totally different.

 

We do not claim to offer everything beyond your wildest Dream’s, just the best Mountain Bike Experience available and a chance for your employees and guests to talk and network together.

 

All the days Instruction & riding takes place on Cycle Tracks and some descents on Single-track MTB Trails.

 

Afan Valley carry full Insurance, MIAS qualified Instructors, quality Mountain Bikes and risk assessments.

 

We can introduce a competitive element into the days proceedings should you desire, though for most groups just the riding element is enough.

A Buffet Lunch at the Refresh in Cymmer as part of your day.

The days format is listed below -

    

    11.45 pm For mid day start at Glyncorrwg Unit 3

   12.15 pm An Introduction & Safety brief

   12.30 pm Depart along the Cycle path

   13.30 pm Arrive for Buffet lunch at local Hostelry

   14.15 pm Depart by Minibus to Mountain top

   14.30 pm Re-united with Bikes and start your descent

   16.30 pm Arrive back on the car park at Glyncorrwg
