To find Bryn Bettws leave the M 4 at J 40 and follow the A 4107 towards the Afan Forest Park. After 5 miles turn left and travel through the village of Pontrhydyfen (birthplace of Richard Burton) almost opposite the Colliers pub before leaving the village turn right towards Tonmawr, after about 200 yards a minor surfaced road turns to the right up a steep hill with a sign for Pallenna. Follow this road for about one mile as it climbs the mountain. You will enter the forestry over a cattle grid and now you are 500 yards from Bryn Bettws. Continue straight on.
If you miss the surfaced road you may continue along towards Tonmawr for 300 yards and turn right through the forestry commission entrance and follow the un-surfaced track up to the top (about 1 mile) where you turn left into Bryn Bettws in front of the forest park information board. To find Glyncorrwg Training School from the East Leave the M4 at J36 and use your GPS, it will take you on a route through Maesteg and drop you over the mountain into the village of Cymmer continue straight across the cross road for Glyncorrwg or turn left for Afan Forest Park visitor centre.
Alternatively leave the M4 at J40 and follow the A 4107 north up the valley. After about 7 miles from the M4 you will find Afan Argoed visitor centre which is also signed for the South Wales Miners Museum, continue straight on into the village of Cymmer. Here follow the signs for Glyncorrwg turning left just before a Petrol Station, you will find Glyncorrwg Ponds visitor centre about one and a half miles along this road. Our Hire shop is 50 yards further along next door to the relatively new Glyncorrwg Ponds Centre. You can find a picture of the whole site by using the link to our hire shop.
